Smoothing the Pathway From High School to College—Research-based Practices

Many students need help to become college-ready in high school and to achieve success in college. This session will focus on evidence-based practices that can improve the high school to college transition, including college readiness assessments, transition courses, summer bridge programs, and guided pathways.

CTE and STEM Career Pathways

The presenters will share information on CTE and STEM career pathways that include opportunities to take dual enrollment courses. We will talk about the features of a high quality career pathway and then share information on Bassick High School’s (Bridgeport, CN) Advanced Manufacturing pathway, developed in collaboration with Housatonic Community Colleges.

8th Grade Students Plan for College Now

By succeeding in a rigorous TSI College Readiness Course, our 8th Grade students gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed in high school courses and beyond. Learn how PSJA ISD is seamlessly embedding the key components of the TSI into its 8th grade curriculum, as well as how giving every student access to the integrated instruction is yielding positive effects.

From Dual Enrollment to Early College High School

Description: In three years’ time, Brownsville Independent School District (BISD) has transitioned from a dual enrollment model providing college credit opportunities exclusively for juniors and seniors to an Early College district with seven state designated Early College High Schools (ECHS). The ECHS design provides college credit opportunities in addition to critical support systems for every student enrolled in the ECHS. This webinar will guide the participant through the critical planning and design components needed for a successful transition to ECHS.
